Auditions:  We are holding auditions for all instruments at this time.

  • Audition requirements: "Students who do not yet know their upper octave scales are still encouraged to audition with the scales they currently feel comfortable with. Students younger than 7th grade with an above-average skill set are also welcome to audition. All highly interested and motivated students who demonstrate the minimum performances abilities needed to be successful in the group will be seriously considered for acceptance into the symphony."

Rehearsals:
     Tuesday 7:00-9:00
     New Vision Center 18010 N. Tatum Blvd,
     Phoenix,  AZ 85032

Concerts:
     All concerts are scheduled on Tuesdays. 

Participaqtion Fee:
    Participation fee non refundable $200.00 applies to students accepted into the orchestra and
    is due the week prior to the first rehearsal.

Audition Requirements:  Students will be asked to play the following.
   Scale as specified below.  
   Short Solo or solo excerpt should demonstrate both slow and fast playing. 
   Students will be stopped by the judge due to time so full movements are not required. 
   Students being considered for principal positions may be asked to sight read. 

      Percussion:
         Demonstrate concert snare drum roll, cymbal crashes
         Etude for snare drum. 
         Sight reading. 
         Timpani:  contact conductor to make arrangements for audition when Timpani is available.

      Winds:
         Two octave scale, plus chromatic scale covering the entire range of the instrument.
          Solo/excerpts demonstrating slow and fast passages. 

       Brass:
         Two octave scale, plus chromatic scale covering the entire range of the instrument.
          Solo/excerpts demonstrating slow and fast passages. 

       Strings: 
         Three octave scale,  Violin  G and C,  Viola C and F,   Cello C and E.  
         Bass  2 octave scale.

         Solo excerpt showing fast and slow playing.  Students are encouraged to perform
         a passage that includes higher positions.
